International commitments

Mobilize research players

Together we can make a difference

There are many ways to support us.

Your commitment makes a difference for children with cancer.

Why mobilize paediatric cancer research players?

Insufficient investment

Around 350 children under 19 are diagnosed with cancer every year in Switzerland, and 35,000 in Europe.

Children are not little adults

Most children with cancer are treated with old chemotherapies developed for adults.

These drugs can have serious long-term consequences for children who are cured.

Lack of access to innovative treatments

Only 10% of relapsed children in Europe have access to innovative treatments

Few new drugs

Only 24 new anti-cancer drugs have been approved in the last 15 years, whereas over 150 have been validated in adults.

"The problem is not
see big or small, but
to see far ahead".

Claude Lelouche

Our objectives

Increase investment in pediatric cancer research.

Reduce the time it takes to open clinical trials, so that sick children have faster access to potentially more effective innovative treatments.

Improve European pediatric regulations and Swiss regulations on Highly Specialized Medicine, so that pharmaceutical companies develop their anti-cancer drugs in pediatrics and not just in adult oncology.

Making childhood cancer a PRIORITY FOR ALLin Switzerland and Europe.

How?

Zoé4life is active on the committees of several international pediatric cancer research organizations.

ACCELERATE

Zoé4life is on the executive committee of ACCELERATE, an organization that brings together researchers, manufacturers, regulators and parents. Their aim: to accelerate international research into pediatric cancer.

Childhood Cancer International

Zoé4life is on the European committee and responsible for the Research and Innovation area of this organization, which brings together associations of parents and children with cancer from all over the world.

ITCC

(Innovative Therapies for Children with Cancer in Europe)
Zoé4life is a member of the Committee of parent representatives to this international research organization. In Switzerland, only the two largest hospitals, the CHUV in Lausanne and the Kinderspital in Zürich, are certified as "ITCC Centers." The ITCC brings together only the most specialized centers in innovative pediatric oncology in Europe.

SIOPEN

This organization brings together treatment centers specializing in neuroblastoma, the cancer that took Zoé's life in 2013. Zoé4life and Solving Kids Cancer form the Parents' Committee to participate in research decisions in this field.

Support for Swiss families with a child with cancer

Every year, over a hundred families living in Switzerland with a child suffering from cancer receive support from Zoé4life.

Projects for children with cancer

Zoé4life finances projects for children with cancer, during and after treatment.

Research projects and new treatments

Since 2013, Zoé4life has funded research projects in Switzerland and abroad to the tune of over CHF 2,500,000.
