Protecting families of children with cancer from COVID-19

Children with cancer are particularly at risk from the current health crisis linked to COVID-19.
With the deconfinement, it becomes urgent to protect them and their families.
Help us to provide them with masks and hydro-alcoholic gel, so that this material but essential aspect is not an additional worry for these families.

Using disinfectant gel and wearing masks is nothing new for families dealing with their child's cancer.
Usually, a child undergoing treatment wears a mask to protect himself only when he has to go out in public places, or when he is in contact with people outside his family and friends, and when his immune system is too fragile.
Parents and siblings generally only wear masks when they are in the presence of the sick child and have a cold, or when the sick child has what is known as a suppressed immune system.

With the pandemic, families are afraid of bringing the virus home to their child who is undergoing treatment or has recently completed it. As a result, they are more likely to wear masks in all circumstances, whether it's to go shopping, to work, or to the hospital for their child's care and treatment. Siblings will also wear masks to school, and sick children will wear them whenever they leave the house.

Hand disinfection is also more systematic and more frequent.

Indeed, it's vital to protect a child undergoing treatment, as any bacteria or virus could have serious consequences for him or her.

Every member of the family is accustomed to washing his or her hands with soap several times a day, and uses disinfectant regularly, especially when away from home.
