Fertility preservation in pediatric oncology
Giving sick children a future: preserving fertility thanks to your donations.
Today, 80 to 85% of children with cancer are cured thanks to medical advances. But some treatments can unfortunately affect their fertility in adulthood.
For teenagers, methods of sperm or oocyte preservation are available before treatment begins. However, for younger children - those who have not yet reached puberty - these solutions are not yet available. There are, however, experimental techniques for harvesting and freezing ovarian or testicular tissue, with the hope that, in 10 to 30 years' time, this tissue may enable them to become parents.
These techniques, while encouraging, are not covered by health insurance in Switzerland for prepubescent children. This is where Zoé4life intervene.
Thanks to your donations, Zoé4life covers the full cost of fertility preservation for these children. This will enable families to make this choice with complete peace of mind, and without any financial constraints.
It's an investment in their future, another chance to build a fully chosen life after illness. Thank you for continuing to support us.
