GOLD in September, the month where the world turns gold for kids with cancer

September is International Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. All over the world during this month, buildings and historic sites will be illuminated in GOLD, the symbolic colour of childhood cancer.

Zoé4life has been leading the momentum of solidarity in this special month for years. This time again, the iconic Geneva “Jet d’eau” will be illuminated in GOLD colour on the first Friday of September, our banners will be placed across Lausanne and our flags bearing the GOLD ribbon will adorn the Mont-Blanc bridge throughout the week which opens the month. Our GOLD ribbons will be available in hundreds of shops throughout French-speaking Switzerland, and new in 2020, also in a few shops in German-speaking Switzerland

This year, the September GOLD campaign is even more important than past years.

In 2020 the whole world has its eyes on the COVID-19 pandemic. All of you are discovering a semblance of what it is like to live as a family with a child with cancer.

You learned the importance of hand-washing and the usefulness of disinfectant. You started wearing a mask to protect others. You have learned what isolation is, not knowing what tomorrow will bring or the next few weeks or having your plans cancelled or changed.

You discover what it’s like to experience day to day, what 250 to 300 families experience each year. Many of you are not insensitive to this and you want to help these families in September. Because yes, pediatric cancer has not stopped and it continues to strike new children every day in Switzerland and around the world.

In 2019, thanks to you, CHF 50,000.00 was raised through the sale of these small GOLD ribbons. This allowed us to offer additional support for the implementation of new treatment protocols in Switzerland.

The pandemic is not slowing us down or making us lose motivation.

In fact, we’re more motivated than ever.

What if we did even better?

We’re counting on you! Buy your gold ribbon at participating shops, or make a donation.
